When We Are Closed

The out-of-hours service covers nights (Monday to Thursday 18:30 – 08:00), weekends (Friday 18:30 – Monday 08:00) and bank holidays. Should you need medical advice or attention during this time, there are two options:

  • If an extreme emergency arises, dial 999 to request an ambulance
  • Otherwise call the out-of-hours service on 111

When connected to NHS 111, your situation will be will assessed and appropriate action taken. This could simply be advice or, where necessary, making arrangements for you to be seen by a doctor.

Out-of-hours services are generally busy so please think carefully and Choose Well before asking to see a doctor and only do so if you genuinely cannot wait until the surgery re-opens.

The NHS 111 service is free from landlines and mobiles.

The NHS Minor Injuries Units are open at Gosport War Memorial Hospital (08:00 – 21:00) and St Mary’s NHS Treatment Centre (08:00 – 21:30) seven days a week. You do not need an appointment. The units can provide advice and treatment in nurse-led clinics for minor illness or injury.
