The Harbour

The Harbour is a new, complementary service for people in mental distress and self-defined crisis. Solent MIND, Havant and East Hants MIND, Solent NHS Trust, Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust, NHS Portsmouth CCG, and Hampshire and IOW CCG have partnered with a wide network of other organisation to create a new remote service offering support via text, phone, web chat or video call.

This informal, non-judgemental, remote out-of-hours service is peer led and is made up of staff who have lived experience of mental health challenges and using services. They will work with individuals to de-escalate their distress using strength based and recovery focussed approaches. Individuals accessing support with be encouraged to reflect on and communicate thei strengths, resources and abilities, and create their own safety plan.

Any adult (18+) in Portsmouth, Fareham, Gosport and South East Hampshire can access The Harbour. There is no need to see a GP, no need for a referral and they don’t need to be known to other health or care services.

The Harbour can also support carers and supporters of people in self-defined crisis or emotional distress.

Support includes the offer of next working day wellbeing calls from local wellbeing centres and PositiveMinds. With strong links to the NHS Crisis teams, The Harbour staff can refer people who need additional crisis support.

If you, or someone you know, needs mental health support, please see the attached flyer for information on how to access The Harbour.
