Welcome to The Willow Group, four long-established Gosport GP practices working together as one organisation. We have a clinical team of GPs, Advanced Nurses Prescribers, Practice Nurses, Healthcare Assistants, Pharmacists, Paramedics and well-trained admin staff. We all work hard to advise our patients on the most appropriate health care support for their needs. We are based in four sites and share resources across the group to give you more choice about how, when and where you can access your primary care.

Consult with a Clinician
When you need our services, it’s important that you get to the right person as early as possible. Willow Group has a range of Willow Group clinicians that you can now access direct. It couldn’t be simpler – just complete a Klinik form, which will pop up on our home page (or you can click the image below).

The banner looks like this: Klinik

Our friends at Klinik have created this video guide on how to complete the form.

Once we have received your form, it will be triaged by a clinician.

Dear patients

This message is to inform you about plans for Gosport Medical Centre (GMC) to merge with the Willow Group from April 1, 2023.

If the merger goes ahead, the new combined practice would be operated in partnership with Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust, which currently works in partnership with The Willow Group. It will create one of the largest practices in Hampshire with around 49,000 registered patients.

GP partners at GMC – who have two key GPs retiring at the end of March 2023 – approached The Willow Group to suggest a merger which, most importantly, should guarantee long-term access to primary care services for its 13,500 patients.

We know that change – any change – can lead to uncertainty.

But we want to reassure you that there will be no site closures and no job losses amongst our staff. Our existing services will all continue.
Both our practices strongly believe that a merger offers advantages for patients, including access to clinical and non-clinical services across five sites – although there may be some changes to what we use the buildings for.

The biggest benefit, as mentioned above, is arguably to patients at Gosport Medical Centre as the practice would otherwise face an uncertain future. The Willow Group will also strongly benefit from GMC’s excellent clinical and non-clinical staff transferring over to its practice to deliver services.
Pooling our clinical and administrative resources will enable us to respond more effectively to staffing issues, such as potential shortages caused by holidays or sickness. This will ensure that we provide you with a more resilient and efficient service.

We have produced a Patient Question and Answer factsheet which will hopefully answer your key questions.

We are speaking to representatives of your Patient Participation Groups (PPGs), and we will be meeting with the full PPGs soon, but we are keen to get wider patient views too.

As part of that process, we would also invite you to take part in an online patient survey, the results of which we will use to inform our future planning. Hard copies of the survey will be available at all five sites or you can take it online using the following link: https://mysay.is/WillowgroupM1

Please watch this space on the website for other ways that we plan to engage with you about this proposal.

Thank you.

Dr Robin Harlow, GP Partner The Willow Group
